MARIBOR CITY

This charming little Slovenian city is a hidden Slovenian gem. The medieval city was developed in the 12th century, but proofs were found that it had people living there in paleolithic and also during the Roman empire. There are 2 important monuments in Maribor that you shouldn’t miss: The Cathedral from the 12th century in Gothic style and the renaissance Maribor city hall. Maribor is special for one additional thing and it is the world’s oldest wine tree, 400 years old still living hugging the medieval walls of the city. The city itself was always a military city of Slovene and German people. It was attacked by the Ottoman empire and also the allies in the 2nd World War because it was one of the most important cites for the military industry of the German Reich. Hitler himself loved this city and valued it’s importance. OUR TIP: Have wine tasting and taste modra kavčina.

OUR TIP: Sit in cafe bar along river promenade and enjoy your coffee or tea.
