KUMROVEC – COMRADE TITO BIRTH VILLAGE
Kumrovec is a small village in the northwestern part of Croatia. It is famous for 2 reasons. One of the reasons is that the whole village is a museum in situ with representative houses from the beginning of the 20th century. Other reason is that in one of this houses was born the famous Yugoslav president Josip Broz Tito, the former of the Non-aligned movement in the period of the Cold war. All the houses have the original furniture and each house represents a different crafts.
OUR TIP: Take a photo with the statue of Tito. It’s a work of art of a famous sculpturer Antun Augustinčić. His statue is the statue of Peace in front of the UN building in New York.
